Vive la difference! In old Blighty we have our bad food, wet weather and topless overweight builders, whilst on the other side of the channel they spend long, workless summers in Provence drinking fine wine, surrounded by chic friends discussing the nuances of Blaise Pascal. Look to Concorde, Eurotunnel and Arsenal FC circa 2002; the French have always shown us Brits that we can be classier. DBFC are no exception. They’re a Parisan band who channel the halcyon spirit of Madchester and go on to create a wonderfully modern psych-tronica sound. Their first single on Different is ‘Staying Home’, a track which connects the fine lineage of French electronic music with British shoegaze and 60s psychedelia.
Their debut EP on HMS records led to a booking the key tastemaker festival Transmusicales, where they received an incredible reception. It was there that they caught the attention of the essential French weekly Les Inrockuptibles, who were quick to lavish the band with praise. They are fast becoming a live favourite back at home, and have a raft of festivals and headlines shows lined up for summer 2015.
